Jasper needs a home

I tried to think of a thoughtful gift for Jeff for our anniversary that I wouldn't have to spend any money on. I thought about the things he loves . . . houses, poker, vacations . . . those were all too complicated so I settled for sugar cookies. My sister and I spent the afternoon making and decorating cookies with Ollie (her puppy), Ridley and Cooper. I wrote Jeff a poem and attached it to the cookie jar. I have to say - I always used to be afraid of poetry until just recently. Teaching first grade has taught me many many things and how to write a poem Lucy Calkins style is just one of them.

So, what did Jeff get me? Well, I got this picture text from him around lunch time.

"Can I bring him home?"

He had gone to my favorite pet store in the city on his lunch break and found this furry friend begging for a home. My very practical husband who thinks through every decision 10 times over, begged me to bring him home. As much as my puppy loving heart wanted to say yes, I knew it wasn't a good idea. We talked through what this would mean for our growing family and decided that it wasn't the best time for us to add yet another member to our family.

Have you considered adopting a dog?
His name is Jasper.
He's 6 years old.
He's a black and white schnauzer.
He doesn't shed.
He's friendly.
He gets along well with other dogs.

Helping Mommy in the Nursery

A lot has been going on in our house this summer. We love having Mommy home all day . . .

Sometimes she cleans the whole house from top to bottom over and over again.

Sometimes (very rarely) she takes naps and we get to sleep with her.

Our favorite thing to do lately is to help set up the nursery. Well, we really aren't helping, we either steal toys or get yelled at for wrestling. We enjoy laying next to Mommy while she sits in the rocker and prays for the little peanut inside her belly.

Apparently, there are rules in the new room, The rules are . . .

No wrestling in the nursery

No jumping up on the bed

Remember, all toys in here do not belong to us even if they squeak.

I came home from a weekend away with my sister to a huge suprise. Jeff, my parents, and his parents worked all weekend to put together our new furniture, shampoo the carpets and organize things in our nursery. I was so happy when I came home I just cried and cried . . . We are so blessed to have parents that love us and help us as much as ours do, I am so thankful for each one of them!

Here is Cooper testing out the bassinet
Here he is again, testing out the kid size ikea chair

Its been so fun preparing for our new little one. We still have a lot to do so more pictures to come soon!
